Prayer of a Child
Few weeks ago, my 7 yr. old son, brought home his Prayer Packet that they were working on in school. In it were what appears to be blank prayer cards. On top of each one, there are topics labeled as follows: "With Him (saved)"; "Clean (free from sin)"; "Protected"; "One (not fussing and pulled apart)"; "Joy" and "Love". I watched him write out his prayer requests one by one. Under "With Him", he wrote "Daddy", "Clean" - his brother "Jay", "Protected - his friend's family. He then asked me who should he pray for under "Joy" and I said you can put my name there too! We debated on the "Love" category and I suggested he put his name there but he said he already is loved! So, I said, "ok, you can put my name there too"! After writing out his prayer requests, he stopped and closed his eyes and said "ok, we should pray now"... For each topic, I watched as he prayed with his eyes closed. His prayer was something like this: "Lord, I pray that You would save my Daddy. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen", "Lord, I pray that You would free my brother from sin. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen." He continued to pray for each of his topics and placed them back in his packet. I then said, "you should put this packet in your bedroom so we can pray for them one by one each night". But he said the most profound words: "No, Mommy, we already prayed for each one. There is no need to take them out and pray for them again!" The envelope is sealed. I get it Lord. The prayer of a child. I get it!

Thank you for posting this. His child's eyes are right on the mark here. We need to put our burdens at the foot of the cross and then leave them there, trusting Christ will not forget!
It's a good reminder for me and has made my heart lighter!
